Great Falls College MSU is proud to partner with the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) to help enlisted personnel complete their CCAF degree’s General Education requirements.

Participating in the General Education Mobile (GEM) enables students to complete up to 15 credits at Great Falls College that transfer toward the general education requirements of their CCAF degree.

Why should you do GEM at Great Falls College?

  • We offer quality online instruction that meets CCAF standards and degree completion requirements. In fact, we’ve been offering online instruction since 1998.
  • We’ve got the 8 Week Advantage. Take classes in an accelerated 8-week block, which allows students to complete more credits in less time.
  • We understand military and are annually deemed a Military Friendly School. Our community of Great Falls is the proud home of both Malmstrom Air Force Base and Montana Air National Guard.
  • We have an award winning Veteran’s Center on campus with a dedicated Veterans Success Coach who serves the needs of our student military and veteran community.
  • We are a small campus who truly gets to know their students, even when they are online!
  • We offer all of our services online, including free tutoring and library access.
  • We are a public, regionally accredited college.

I want to earn a degree from Great Falls College MSU
  1. Choose your Great Falls College academic program
  2. Determine your financial benefits.
  3. Do you have Military Tuition Assistance (T.A.)? Yes: Great! Connect with your unit’s Education Coordinator No: It’s ok. You may still qualify for other assistance through Federal Financial Aid.

    Apply for Financial Aid: You are required to file a FAFSA to determine eligibility for federal and state loans, grants, and tuition waivers (such as the Montana National Guard Tuition Waiver)

  4. Apply for Admission-link to online application at applymontana.org
  5. Complete your application file.
  6. Submit the following documents:

    •Proof of high school completion or equivalency.

    •Immunization records to show two MMRs

    •Math and Writing readiness scores (Accuplacer, ACT/SAT, or previous college credit)

  7. Complete 45 minute online Orientation
  8. You will receive a link to this orientation once your application file is complete.

  9. Meet with an Academic Advisor
  10. Register for classes.
  11. Last steps and Success:
  12. •Pay your bill. Tuition Assistance and Tuition Waivers cover tuition only, you are still responsible for fees, books, and supplies

    •Buy your books and supplies

    •Start your classes

    •Access free services such as Veterans Center, Academic Success Center, Disability Services, and more.

I want to take one or more classes for my CCAF degree
  1. Select Great Falls College as your CCAF/GEM Institution
  2. Establish a Community College of the Air Force Education Goal on the Air Force Virtual Education Center (AFVEC)

  3. Submit Tuition Assistance (TA)
  4. Request Tuition Assistance online in the Air Force Virtual Education Center and work with your unit’s Education Coordinator. Tuition Assistance requests must be no earlier than 45 days but no later than 7 days prior to start of course(s).

    Note: if you want to apply for Federal Financial Aid to assist with fee and book/supply expenses, you must be degree seeking. If you want to seek a degree, please follow the steps in the "I want to earn a degree from Great Falls College" section.

  5. Apply for Admission
  6. You will apply using this abbreviated application

    Note: if you are taking more than 6 credits in a semester, you must provide immunization records as stated on the application

  7. Select your CCAF approved General Education classes
  8. Complete 45 minute online Orientation
  9. You will receive a link to this orientation once your application file is complete.
