Do you have an interest in teeth? Are you a hard worker? Do you like having weekends off? Do you like helping people? If so, you should consider a career as a Dental Assistant! Dental assistants are a very important part of the dental team. Specific duties performed by dental assistants vary from office to office and state to state. However, dental assistants typically work closely with patients helping to ensure their comfort, work directly with dentists during the treatment of patients, perform allowable expanded functions under direct supervision of a dentist, help with general office management tasks, and perform basic dental laboratory responsibilities.
A career in dental assisting allows for excellent working conditions, good pay with possible benefits, and training can be completed in less than one year.
The Dental Assistant program at Great Falls College MSU prepares students to assist the dentist in the delivery of dental care and to function as essential members of the dental team while performing chair-side and related general office and laboratory procedures. Our graduates are eligible to sit for the Dental Assisting National Board Examination to become a Certified Dental Assistant, a nationally recognized certification.
Students have two delivery options: an on-site option where you attend all classes and labs on campus, or a hybrid option where you attend lectures via video-conferencing and attend labs on campus every other weekend (Friday noon-8 PM and Saturday 9 AM -5 PM.) To determine which option will be best for you, please contact the Dental Assistant program director at (406) 771-4351.
Copies of all program policies on safety and infection control are available to students and the public upon request at the GFC Dental Clinic office.
